For you fans of the Whiskies of Islay and Jura, the beauteous drive to scenic Tarbet to catch the ferry to Islay takes in Loch Lomond and The Rest And Be Thankful Mountain Pass. The crossing takes two hours and while you’re taking in the arresting scenery, please keep your eye open for some of the marine life and seabirds found in the sea or around the shores of Islay. Otters, Bottlenose Dolphins, Killer Whales, Puffins, Gannets and Cormorants can be seen along with, in the Summer months, Basking Sharks. Keep that camera handy now!
As soon as we arrive on Islay, we waste no time and head straight to your accommodation and its extensive selection of Islay Single Malts in its cosy wee whisky bar.
DAY TWO takes in a magnificent Scottish breakfast before we set off for the lovely Bruichladdich Distillery followed by a visit to one of Islay’s many historical sites & a wee stop at Kilchoman Farm Distillery. From here it’s lunch before heading to the North of the Island to visit Bunnahabhain & Caol Ila Distilleries. After a visit to Islay Square for some local arts & crafts, woollens or even a tasting at the Islay Ales Micro Brewery then back to your quaint and traditional Scottish Hotel for a hearty pleasant dinner and a deep and dream filled sleep!
DAY THREE consists of a tour of the famous Laphroaig Distillery, one of the best distillery tours you will experience before lunch in Ardbeg Distillery. After lunch a quick drop in to Lagavullin and Bowmore distilleries, interspersed with excellent Scottish fayre, truly incredible scenery and fascinating history! As we head back to your Hotel.
DAY FOUR takes us home and we stop off in in elegant Inveraray for lunch before we take you back to our beautiful capital for a well earned rest!
